Linda Cracknell in the November issue commented on ‘Star Jelly’. We have seen this in Perthshire and in Mull.
These images which were taken in July 2013 in the Summer Isles show ‘Star Jelly’ and an associated frog carcass.
One theory is that predators find that frog oviducts with unfertilized eggs taste horrid and that this is the source of ‘Star Jelly’.
Our finding may support that origin. The ‘Star Jelly’ was in otter territory.
